Format

Pinned is the fifth album from Brooklyn noise gigantosaurs A Place To Bury Strangers. If you’ve been around APTBS since 2007 or so, then you know the formula for the most part; expect abrasive, pedal-abusing, howling frequencies and you’ll be okay. Expect an easy-ride and you should probably pass.

Pinned is the first record that APTBS have put out since the demise of Brooklyn DIY gig space Death By Audio – the place Ackermann first began making custom electronic pedals and a place he called his own. Those feelings of loss, or the end of an era at least, make their way into this record. With lead single ‘Never Coming Back’, Ackermann himself states, “You make these decisions in your life…you’re contemplating whether or not this will be the end.” Strong stuff, for sure, but then APTBS have never, ever been your average five piece to get you out of your seat to jive.

The record is also the first with new drummer Lia Simone Braswell who, with Dion Lunadon’s oppressive bass, completes the line-up. Interestingly though, Lia Simone Braswell not only anchors herself into the band on the sticks, but also contributes vocals which will especially add to the live setup; their true playground.

While stocks last there is a very limited indie’s only coloured double LP up for grabs.
