Calf Of The Sacred Cow is the debut album from London-based lo-fi pop five-piece Chemtrails. This first LP, released through PNKSLM, is a fuzzy and hook-laden adventure that is drenched in romantic nostalgia. Take ‘Ghosts of My Dead Cats’, a bluesy guitar line drives the song whilst retro 80s synths provide a melancholic melody. This combination of minor and major harmonies perfectly encapsulates the dreamy wistfulness of gazing into the past; feeling sadness through reminiscing about happy memories that have gone by yet content due to their mere existence. Evoking such a complex combination of emotions is normally the reserve of seasoned veterans such as Mac DeMarco, Kurt Vile or J. Mascis. For Chemtrails to achieve such a response in their first full-length release demonstrates their song-writing prowess and alludes to a seriously promising future.

Lazily content, yet simultaneously forlorn; Chemtrails’ debut LP will leave the listener nostalgically reflecting on the past. Grab Calf Of The Sacred Cow to make an investment in this five-piece’s future that will inevitably pay dividends.
