Birmingham’s finest purveyors of gloomy post-rock return with their 5th LP, which sees them perhaps start to move away from Interpol tinged angles, set in darkened rooms and more towards a brighter, more colourful pallet.
Lead single ‘Magazine’ gives promise to a big, cinematic production which sees Violence pushing the band into new and more creative waters. It’s a welcome move for one of the noughties great British indie rock survivors, who perhaps up until now had been playing things a little safe in more recent years.
So, why should you buy it? Because you love the band, right? Need more? Right, well remember when Tom Smith was one of the most compelling frontmen around? All the signs are pointing towards a man who has rediscovered his mojo. Our record shelves are much happier places with an in-form Editors back on the scene! Oh and if that’s not enough, they have knocked out a triple gatefold effort on lush red vinyl to boot! Dig in!
