I’m New Here is the 13th and final studio album by legendary soul performer Gil Scott-Heron. Released in 2010, I’m New Here was the artist’s first album of original material in 16 years. The record was a departure from the jazz-funk and soul of Scott-Heron's previous work, instead incorporating more minimalist blues and spoken word for what is an altogether grittier soundscape. I’m New Here was for Gil Scott-Heron what the American Recordings were to Johnny Cash – a highly introspective and coarser album released in the artist’s twilight years. In 2020, I’m New Here is released to celebrate its 10th anniversary and is available in a limited green and pink double LP.
