Hollie Cook fell into the music scene at the age of 19 after German punk rocker Ari Up recruited her for The Slits 2006 reformation tour. Since then, she’s gone from strength to strength performing for four years with The Slits before striking out on her own and releasing debut album, Hollie Cook in 2011. She’s found time to open for the Stone Roses, perform on ‘Later… With Jools Holland’ and feature on Jamie T’s track ‘They Told Me It Rained’.

Vessel Of Love is her third album; and although it’s still reggae, it’s a departure from the genre. There’s an influence of electronic and more synths then you’d find on a hard reggae album. This is a combination of new wave, rocksteady and dub, with hints of ska and some dreamy 60s melodies.

At its heart this is a collection of love songs that Cook says represents her “true self”. Written at a time of personal depression it gives an insight into her anxieties and emotions, it’s true lovers rock. Available as a limited 12” LP in transparent pink, this is an album to love to, cry to and even dance to.
