Mercedes Marxist is Idles’ first song since 2018’s Joy As An Act Of Resistance and is released as a standalone single on 7” vinyl. Frontman Joe Talbot revealed that the track is not in fact as new as some would think and that it was actually one of the first tracks written for their 2018 mega-hit album. Recalling the difficult phase of life he was in when he wrote Mercedes Marxist, Talbot described it as “the last splurge from Brutalism” with him at his worst, so the song was omitted from the album. Now it gets an official release and is backed with ‘I Dream Guillotine’.
