Two years in the making, Kyle Craft’s second album, Full Circle Nightmare, manages to be as brilliant, if not better than 2016’s Dolls of Highland.

Full Circle Nightmare is an autobiographical journey of heartbreak. It is an album not usually associated with Sub Pop, mainly because of the sheer range of lyrical genius and variety of musical input it uses so cleverly.

The album has pianos, it has Hammond Organ, it has liberal sprinklings of tambourine. Indeed, it seems that Craft is intent on making a concerted effort to cover as many musical bases as possible here.

With a band now behind him, it’s evident that Craft has put increased amounts of creative effort into his lyrics. The results paint a cryptic landscape of clever wordplay and brutal honesty.

Evidence of Full Circle Nightmare’s range can be found in several highlights; ‘Exile Rag’ contains catchy honky tonk twang, while ‘Bridge City Rose’ offers a fine lyrical example of Craft’s own personal traumas. ‘Gold Calf Moan’ is one of several examples of excellent melodic rock.

Craft takes us on an unexpected, yet excellent retro musical journey on Full Circle Nightmare. It’s available on "Loser Edition" coloured 12" vinyl with digital download.
