Hell of a year for Moon Duo with their double volume LP (Occult Architecure) making some of the biggest waves of their career in 2017. Well they haven’t left us for long, popping up again with something a little different this time. In an ode to two of Moon Duo’s musical icons – Alan Vega (Suicide) and Iggy Pop – a limited edition 12” has been pressed with exclusive and highly expansive cover versions of a song of each respectively.

“We never want to do faithful covers of great songs, because what’s the point? So we tried to push both of the tracks in less obvious directions”, said the band. On point too, as Vega’s ‘Jukebox Babe’ on side A is almost unrecognisable at first. Like everything Moon Duo touch, it is cloaked in psych and cosmic waves, yet this time there is an element of hair-down fun as the track romps along to a disco-funk rhythm. It is a phenomenal cover.

Side B features a cover of Iggy’s ‘No Fun’, a track Moon Duo began incorporating into their set after BBC6 Radio asked them to record an Iggy song in honour of the man’s 70th birthday.

Available on limited white vinyl ‘til they’re gone!
