Nightports w/ Matthew Bourne
Nightports was first established by musicians/producers Adam Martin and Mark Slater and the duo set themselves just one, simple rule. They only use sounds that have been produced by the featured musicians they are working with and nothing else. Martin and Slater then work on transforming, distorting, translating, reordering and reworking these sounds to create something that is completely unique. It is music without limits.
Having been signed to The Leaf Label in 2015, Matthew Bourne is the first artist that Nightports have worked with. They recorded the bulk of their material at Bourne’s home just outside Keighley in West Yorkshire using a huge range of instruments, contrasting and mixing the different sounds from older upright instruments to the more modern concert grands.
The result is a completely unique sounding album, demonstrating a percussive mastery that is both entertaining and emotive for the listener. Even to the trained ear, distinguishing between the original source material and the seamless manipulations is no easy feat.
