For fans of everything from the lo-fi indie aesthetic of Deerhunter to the theatrical and grandiose glam-rock sounds of David Bowie; Swede Hannes Ferm returns with his sophomore album under the moniker HOLY. Released on PNKSLM in late January All These Worlds Are Yours is a joyful and psychedelic soundscape pressed onto a 12” vinyl. The debut single ‘Heard Her’ exhibits all the typical trashy noises of lo-fi indie; the drums are loud and raw and the heavily distorted guitars wail and shriek. However, that’s where the comparison to bands of that ilk ends. Ferm’s song-writing is immensely cinematic in ‘Heard Her’, there are choral vocals, huge rolling drum fills and orchestral instrumentation.
One might easily mistake the singular songwriter for an entire ensemble due to the heavy layering Ferm achieves from having spent a year in Stockholm's Studio Cobra. In short, it’s unapologetically experimental.
