Sunday Best is the debut LP from Manchester-born, Irish-raised and now Glasgow-dwelling songstress Martha Ffion.
For fans of Laura Marling or Sharon Van Etten, Sunday Best takes us on a warm and humble voyage through 10 beautifully melodic tales, exploring themes of a young catholic upbringing, coming of age and what it is to be good and bad. There are Americana-esque folk and country influences aplenty but interestingly Sunday Best always sounds very British indeed.
Recorded at Glasgow’s Chem 19 studios with a full live band, it also features older Ffion works such as one of her earliest tracks ‘Punch Drunk’, though originally titled ‘Punch Drunk Love’.
