In August 1990, Pixies released their third LP,
Bossanova. It’s not usually the popular choice but
Bossanova might be my favourite Pixies record (it features the track ‘Velouria’, for crying out loud.) With the hardier rock sound of debut
Surfer Rosa and the accessible melodies of
Doolittle,
Bossanova is the most complete, straight-up rock record in the Pixies catalogue and is too often overshadowed by its more popularised predecessors (which were also immense, obviously.) In 2020,
Bossanova celebrates 30 years and is being reissued on limited red vinyl. The pack contains the original 16-page booklet insert that had only previously been available with the initial UK pressing.
