Con Todo El Mundo

Second Album by Texas trio Khruangbin. 2015‘s debut The Universe Smiles Upon You was influenced by 60‘s and 70‘s Thai funk music. After being on the road listening to self-made mix tapes of 1970‘s middle eastern funk music, they return with Con Todo el Mundo.

 

10 tracks of gospel, soul and rhythm and blues grooves, featuring the tight drumming of Donald ‘DJ’ Johnson, the funky/dubby bass of Laura Lee and - at times - the surf sounding guitar of Mark Speer. This is most notable on the single ‘Maria Tambien’ a fusion of mexican, funk and surf music. In contrast, the other single ‘Friday Morning’ has a laid back soulful feel; timeless music that could have been recorded any time over the past half century.

Interviewed after playing the Dimensions Festival in Croatia, Khruangbin said this about their blueprint for creating music:
