Alkaline Trio returned in 2000 with their sophomore album Maybe I'll Catch Fire. In general, life was relatively less insane back then, nonetheless Matt Skiba and co were still dour as a week of dark days and Maybe I'll Catch Fire was their inflammatory (no pun intended) manifesto. Filled with their trademark black humour and sombre, hooky pop punk, this album acts as a precursor to the more commercially successful From Here To The Infirmary and Good Mourning, but still stands up as a stone cold classic in its own right.
