What can I say? Well, plenty actually. I doubt there there are many people in the world of record buying that don’t have some inkling of what is in the grooves of this record. Yet, how many people really listen closely to it (spoiler - loads do, but bear with)?
It’s the album where The Boss’s ‘punk n’soul’ rabble rousing big band cacophony stares down pop n’rock and rock, after the long night of the soul of the previous album Nebraska, and basically conquers the world.
The songs are genius. I mean Bruce has been helping grown men find their feelings and learn to cry since circa 1975 but this record tops it all. Irresistible melodys coupled with sing a long choruses, danceable rhythms and great stories - it’s truly got the lot.
This new version adds actual hi-fi sound, sadly lacking in the OG release so please do yourself a favour and check it out.
