The fair city of York is famous for a lot of things. Railways, locomotives, Romans, Vikings, chocolates, floods and that towering Minster, and you could buy a corker of a cream bun at Betty's. What didn't always immediately spring to mind - well, not 1990 - were famous bands. But York never does things by halves, so when they finally produced Shed Seven, they produced a cracker.
In an age when the very term "˜band' has been demoted to mean five pretty faces, overblown choreography and mimed, manipulated re-treads of old songs, it's still refreshing to know that real bands exist. Shed Seven are one of the best - 100% energy, creativity, purveyors of memorable songs, gritty, choppy riffs and always a stunning live act which proves that the first three letters in Rick Witter's surname are more than appropriate.
