A lot can change in 12 years. In the case of Alex Turner, he moved to the States, discovered Brylcreem and momentarily forgot that he is Northern. He also became BFFs with a certain Mr. Homme and developed his band’s sound into the Rock ‘n’ Roll beast that it is today.
So, what can you expect from t’monkeys this time around, eh? Progression. Never a band to stand still, the riffs are still big and bass heavy, and you know it’s a monkey’s record, but the band continue to push things forward by trying new things. The band have taken their time to drop Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino, 5 years to be precise! The longest we ever had to wait before was 2. A sign of other commitments? Yes, but also a reassurance that the band weren’t going to rush any old crap out to earn a few bob.
So, the boys are back and still sounding as relevant and vital as ever. But you already know that, so buy it! What are you waiting for?
