Schlagenheim is the debut album from experimental London four-piece Black Midi, who well and truly put paid to the notion that everyone who graduates the infamous Brit School is a bit of an arse. Defined by lack of structure and improvisation, Black Midi are as exciting as they are ground-breaking. From the sublime to the odd to the borderline un-listenable, Schlagenheim is an album that twenty years from now could stand as a milestone for alternative indie rock. Recorded over a five-day stretch, Schlagenheim was produced by Dan Carey of Speedy Wunderground fame. Carey has played a pivotal role in new music this year having already produced Dogrel; the repeatedly lauded debut album from Fontaines D.C., among other gems..
